August 17 & 18, 2020

For the first time ever, Kath Murdoch, Kimberly Mitchell, and Stephanie Harvey will be coming together to share their love of inquiry in Portland, Oregon! Please join us as we discuss how to beautifully craft inquiry-based elementary and early childhood classrooms.

DAY 1: August 17th

Kath Murdoch: How Can We Design for Powerful Inquiry Learning?
How do we design an inquiry with and for learners? Kath will take educators through her widely-used model for planning and teaching inquiry and explore how it can be adapted to builds students’ understandings and transdisciplinary skills and attributes. In addition to understanding the way the cycle of inquiry can support this design, Kath will share ways to connect to curriculum, make use of authentic problems and contexts  and involve learners in designing for their learning.

Kimberly Mitchell: What Do Inquiry Teachers Do?
We know what inquiry is…but what does it look like on a practical, day-to-day level? What do good inquiry teachers do? Kimberly will share the five key dispositions and strategies of inquiry-based teachers and give you an opportunity to share how you already use them / offer new ideas for using them in your own practice (Get Personal, Stay Curious, Ask More, Talk Less, Encourage Evidence, and Extend Thinking Time).

Stephanie Harvey: How Do We Cultivate Curiosity?
How do we cultivate curiosity? Steph will take participants on a learning journey to the heart of inquiry: curiosity. She will share ways educators can foster a deep love and appreciation for curiosity, which lays the foundation for inquiry-based classrooms full of student agency.

DAY 2: August 18th

We want to give you some agency in determining the focus for the second day. During registration you will have an opportunity to let Kimberly, Kath and Stephanie know what you would most like to learn during your time with them. They will tailor their learning for you!
